As I said, I support providing a basic safety net for those who truly cannot be self-supporting, but beyond that, my calculus is that redistribution is a net negative for society.Marty Nemkohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14850388752934193821noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7821345570811107481.post-54292365895181583572012-07-02T10:07:29.293-07:002012-07-02T10:07:29.293-07:00Hey Marty, didnt you once say in one of your artic...Hey Marty, didnt you once say in one of your articles that an income of 250k/year was plenty enough for anybody, And so why is the redistribution an injustice? Every expert and politician refuses to discuss the major impetus behind rising premiums: Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP. Basic economics dictates that when you have the government paying for health care in a private, for profit medical system, prices will go up, and health care will be over utilized. Why isn't this even being discussed???Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7821345570811107481.post-90435305945078512942012-06-28T10:12:17.583-07:002012-06-28T10:12:17.583-07:00That's what I get for reading these before cof...That's what I get for reading these before coffee.....

Great post.Buck Bardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11967335437923718436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7821345570811107481.post-50274978973071174572012-06-28T09:15:05.711-07:002012-06-28T09:15:05.711-07:00Buck, my essay OPPOSES redistribution.Buck, my essay OPPOSES redistribution.Marty Nemkohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14850388752934193821noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7821345570811107481.post-21567936045913861902012-06-28T06:58:28.189-07:002012-06-28T06:58:28.189-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Buck Bardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11967335437923718436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7821345570811107481.post-42581618332834692512012-06-27T16:31:36.306-07:002012-06-27T16:31:36.306-07:00Your analysis is irrefutable. Instead of making it your goal to help others or even investing in companies that may someday cure cancer, focus on yourself and your goals: amassing wealth and knowledge, fulfilling dreams. The ancillary outcomes of that self interest -- you tip the waiter a little more because you're rich, you set an example for others because you're enjoying your life, you employ others because you wanted a better standard of living for yourself. Who can say that a man who becomes the next Donald Trump does not done more overall "good" for society than a nose-to-the-grindstone do gooder who always thinks of others?Dannoreply@blogger.com
