Mr. Nemko, you seem to say that some employers get to be bosses because they "kiss ass" but I also think I read you saying that we should learn to network.
What is the difference? How can one network with out a little ass kissing? It is hard to make friends in business with out telling someone why you like them.
Alas, it seems that too often, kissing as is rewarded. That doesn't mean that I should respect a boss who got his or her job but substituting schmoozing for substance. But I'd be remiss if I didn't tell an upwardly aspirational person that giving people earned praise might facilitate their advancement.
