What advice would you give to someone who is 58 years old, graduated Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude with a liberal arts degree from a good college, but who has only held low-paying jobs (max. $10-$15 an hour)? It would not be wrong to say that this person has been lonely, angry, and depressed (bipolar), most of his/her life. How can someone, who is probably by the Johnson O'Connor Foundation Aptitude Test standard a "subjective" go from being barely above poverty to making $30,000 -$50,000 a year without having to go back to a long arduous course of schooling?
The music piece derived from a lifetime love of playing and listening to music. Regarding books that have influenced my thinking, despite the Left thinking that Atlas Shrugged and the Fountainhead oversimplify the problem of income inequality, I have concluded that the net benefits of redistribution beyond that which allows a basic humane existence for all people, are greatly outweighed by the minuses.
Yeah Marty, how about a piece on PATIENCE. With everyone getting instant gratification on their cells and mobile devices, plus online feedback in searches and shopping, they expect instant information and results. However, real world processes can take time and feedback or responses are not available, but people become irrational or substitute their own realities when they don't get that instantaneous response. Big example is waiting for election results. Due to Covid19, a LOT more people voted by mail, and due to antiquated state election policies, many votes cannot be counted until the day of the election. When there is a huge volume of votes, it can take days, so people start freaking out one way or another. Patience is needed to get the whole story once it comes through.
You wrote a wonderful piece on favorite music. What books have influenced your work and your thinking?
