A Crash Course in Success

HERE is my latest contribution to U.S. News, published today.

It's a bit boy-scouty but I hope you'll nonetheless find it of value.

The social contract between employer and employee has been shredded and burned. The business exists solely for the benefit of the owners/shareholders. Anyone who doesn't like it can jump off a cliff. That's the new reality.

"Sweat the details". That is so incredibly important. I work at a medical device startup and we're doing last stage testing before our clinical trial.

I can't tell you how many times mistakes have been made because people didn't double-check their work. Not to give the wrong impression, everyone is competent but everyone is also on a really tight schedule, rushed, and frenzied.

You need to be almost a little obsessive and look a few steps ahead to anticipate what could go wrong, just in case.
