Dear Dr. Nemko, AFter a very long career of working with those people who struggled with being disliked, unacceptable, suspected and certaily of poor esteem in most cases, I enjoy and appreciate your observations. Maybe there is an exception for the ones and twos who were sociopathic enough to like themselves far too much. I chose to look hard at myself. and was troubled to find that I had fans who approve of and like me better than I ever liked myself in most cases. This created a falsehood dilemma, as I felt driven to accept that I was not a content social outcast, that society had a place for me that allowed me to be part of society and this was probably inescapable. A win and a lose. However, I now dwell on those people who I truly helped through their confounding towards an acceptance of their own ordained unattractive selves. The lesson I learned from them is clearly finding and appreciating something golden in almost all of them. My own happiness must have been from coleageality with 'my people' and beginning with silently recognizing the depth, wisdom or/and kindness inherent to their own lives and itentions. That, other than all the school, learning and experience, was the most valuable attribute I brought them. In reverse, I recognized my own, more simple qualities. Strange that most others do not have that view of the Disliked. My thoughts turn to President Trump and how shallow the public assessment is of a person who may or may not struggle with likeability. however, it is certain in my mind that he has good intntions and is trying hes best to carry them out. It speaks to a shallowness in the Gente of America that will never be overcome due to all of the props we have created to keep it so. I appreciate your voice in all of that chaos. Anon.
