I've just been hired as a columnist for TheAtlantic.com. The column is a bit unusual in that, before writing it, I ask TheAtlantic.com's readers to opine on a question. Oy. Depends on who answers, of course. Anytime people are offended by certain words and we are increasingly required to call anything related to this season "holiday" instead of the C-word...well, then there's the argument. I'm sure you'll get a Titanic-load of opinions. Everyone is so easily offended these days. I blame too many spin doctors on TV>
